CHUTES AND SCOOTS

Who remembers the good old days when PE was all about the
CHUTES!!! and SCOOTERS!!!

The parachute activity is all about teamwork and teaching gross motor concepts for motor learning. These concepts help to further physical activity in a fun and sensable way that children of all abilitites can enjoy.

Scooters help children to learn upper extremity motor patterns that keys into balance, speed, and agility. These scooters can be used through individual races and or team relays to futher cooperation and build social relationships between peers.

  1. Great blog! Love the pictures...chutes and scooters used to be my favorite gym activity when I was a kid. In fact they still probably are!

Sounded like a tough circuit on the 19th. When putting together mainly bodyweight or band circuits, I always had trouble finding an upper body pull exercise to balance out the pushes (e.g. in this circuit- tricep extensions, incline press). One thing I like are band rows with partners holding the band and they can either alternate or just knock out the reps interval style while the partner gets 10-20 seconds to recover. Is there anything you would have changed/added/subtracted in the boot camp?

  2. I actually included chutes and scoots because we were thinking about the "goods" of physical education when we were young and had to put it into a technilogical venue, so thank goodness for blogger! As for boot camp i wouldnt had really added anything per say but i think i would have had some supplementary workouts that would work in place of the others because more times than none you will have some who are unable to to something that involving jumping. especially when you have older clients
