Today i spent working with my guy again with his leg lifts, this was a little more difficult because orginally he had said he didnt care about training his legs and said thee nay! thats how you get a fully trained physique and there are articles that say by doing back squat you can improve your bench weight. so i took him through all of the leg lifts for that day. i left the weight pretty minumal just bacause i dont think he did much leg work other than running before this day. so i really didnt want to make him hate his life the next three days because his legs hurt so bad. once we were finished with that i had to come back into the office and work on our new weight loss challenge chart. my job is mostly to weigh in people right now who wish to be part of the challenge which is who ever can lose the most weight per body weight percentage will win 3 free months. i think this is great becasue it provides incentive for those who need it.

Today i went through with the guy i wrote the work out for, his name is matt btw, i helped him through the first couple of lifts because we really wanted to stick to the 6 to 8 rep minimun and me being able to be there i can assess where he should be weight wise to make his plan even more personalized. so i spotted him through flat DB bench and Incline bench, mostly because those are the larger muscle group lifts and the others on the card were supplementary lifts like for triceps or shoulders depending on the day. once we finished with those lifts i pretty much set him out on his own because he really didnt need me all that much and i knew he was fully capable to do them on his own. when he was finished he came in and we talked about the next day he was going to do. all of this was the most benificial portion of my night.

today i sat down with the kid who i worked on the weight training program for. i decided to space the days outs and focus on certain muscle groups be day because hios main goal was to gain muscle mass. and considering the way to gain the best muscle mass is through training specifit muscle groups instead of just alternating with upper and lower body. i expained what all the lifts were, some of which he new and some he didnt. mostly he wanted a routin to stick with and to have a plan each time he came in so he didnt feel like he was wasting his workout. this plan was great for him because he like to fun for over 30 minutes and with a normal weight training routine nrmally lasting from 45 minutes to an hour i was able to cut it under 45 minutes so he wasnt spending all night in the gym. i did this for drop sets and regular reps. he still got failiure so he would build new muscle through the routine.

Today i was approached by a younger guy and was asked if we had any starter programs for weight training. I told him that we do free consultations for our personal trainer. Then i asked him was it was that he was looking for. he said that he had weight trained before in high school but fell out of it and had just started to get back into running. so i asked him what he wanted to get out of his workout routines as far as body composition, he told me so i told him that i could design him a 4 day weight training routine that would fit his love for running and give him the right type of exercises and reps that would benifit him in the way that he was asking. This is what i worked on for the remained of my time.

Today is another bootcamp day and this time i sat down with brian before hand and looked over what it is that he had planned, he bounced a few ideas off of me and i bounced a few ideas off of him. we ended up coming up a few different ideas that we were going to use during bootcamp. they started out on the cybex machines and them went to a little core circuit that brian made up. after that we went through a little crossfit type workout that i had seen with kettlebell swings, presses, dead lifts, all of which were done for a full minute with only a few seconds rest between. needless to say they were all pretty gassed at the end so i felt good about what i contrubited

today was busier than most mondays as far as members in the gym, so i spent a lot of time outside on the floor talking with some of the "older" population. most of which were those who participate in the bootcamp. they all keep telling me to run the bootcamp one of these days, so i think i am going to talk to either nick or brian to see what they think. i know that they have done it in the past. so we'll see. the rest of my time today was spent in research for different activity to have them all do if the answer should be yes.

today was a somewhat busy day in the sense of management. there were a few people that came in asking about memberships. they all seemed to come within 15 minutes of eachother. which is strange because it seems if one comes then they all come right in after. so it was kind of nice having them all spread out. i was able to get 2 people to sign up out of the 5 that came in so i was pretty pleased. the other three i gave them nick's number in case they wanted to talk to him and i also gave them a free week pass, because most of the time if they come in and at least try it they will like it and want to sign up.

Today was the start of anoter boot camp so i finally have a nother thing to observe, at times i feel a little on the weird side observing the yoga class so i'm very glad that bootcamp is back. i respect yoga and what they do, but i dont think the lot of them are completely comfortable with me sitting and watching. In the bootcamp they started out with a short core circut with a few plank exercising and crossing oblique work. once they were finished with that they wear led upstairs for a lttle cardio curcuit which including ladder running, dummy bag pulls and sled pushes. the first run through of them it looked to me that they were all getting a feel for how hard it was going to be. and realizing that it would be alittle more difficult than they had thought i think they tried to tone it down, but the whole time brian was encouraging to push and i believe it worked for most of them. we finished with some light weight push presses and body squats to heal their hydrogen build up.

Today i started out with some light cleaning duties such as taking out the trashes and what not. the the rest of my time i spent working on the organizing cabinet with entering all the paperwork with cancellations and new members. it took me a lot longer than i had planned because there are a lot of people in the cancellation file and they are recorded alphabetically. I talked about it with Nick and he said that they have to keep all of them for at least three years for filing purposes, i feel like we need an entirely different cabinet because that thing was really full and a little difficult to deal with

Today was problably the slowed night i have worked. i probably cleaned the entrance way 3 times just for something to do. there was maybe at most 3 people in here at one time. i called nick and asked him what to do becasue normally i can keep myself busy but this time was a true challenge. he said that that happens more times than you think and that in the summer is can get even worse. he said just to stick it out and do whatever comes up. let just say mothing came up, but i did catch up on my espn highlights

today i had a couple people come in who wanted to get signed up for a membership. i got the first couple signed up without a hitch. the other wanted to come in and sign up for a single month. that causes a problem becasue we have to take some sort of billing information in case they decide to keep it. well they didnt have a bank account and it was very apparent. so i did what i believe to be sensable and said that they are welcome to try it out for the month, however if its something that they dont wish to continue then they have to come in and turn in their cards, which normally we allow them to keep. this way they dont have the cards that could be re actived. they seemed like a good people so i really think that they will stick around, however they enjoy those insanity workouts and p90x. so we will see. this was the highlight of the night, and nick helped me through the situation as well

today we started a couple new promotional tactics that i believe will bring in a lot of new members. the first is a 12 month pre-pay in which they pay for the first 12 months up front, but they get 4 months free as well as no enrollment fee. it comes out to being about five dollars per month cheaper then if they chose to go with a 16 month contract. the other, which i think is awesome, is one thats through corperate and that entails signed up to see if you lose weight during your sessions or time here at snap. you weigh in every other week and you have about 9 weeks i believe to lose such and such amount of weight. the person out of all snap corperation to lose the most weight can will 10 thousand dollars. and the person who wins in house also get some sort of prize so you could be a double winner. we already have few people signed up!

Today we really didnt have too many people in the gym working out, however there were about five people who called asking for prices and about 3 people who came in. so it was busy is that sense. One of which signed up for a month to month deal. in retrospect it propbably isnt the best deal we have but for some its the only option because for instance they may have a job that only lasts a couple months out of year vefore they are transfered. so most of the time i try and give them some sort of discount like a lesser price on the access card fee. my supervisor says its the reason that people continue to use us. sometimes theres no way around the fee's however but most of the time they really dont mind. so its kind of like shooting from the hip.

Today was a fairly uneventful experience, it seemed as though not too many members were wanting to work out or had the mid week blues. however i did learn some interesting business aspect tonight. the one thing that surprised me to find out ws that theres a special tax incorperated with the tanning portion of memberships. its special in the sense that it is much more than the regular tax you recieve in a purchase. they do this in order to hopefully strive away from wanting to tan because it can lead to skin cancer, however we all know that it may not be working. Its almost like cigarettes in a sense i believe. having this type of knowledge helps out a lot in the business aspects because taxing is a really big deal.

Today there wasn't any bootcamp to observe becuase it ended its session last thrusday. Its best to give the bootcamp goes and also the trainers a couple weeks break because they arent have to over stress themselves every week and the trainer doesnt have to come up with new ideas quite so frequently. This also allows us to avoid any type of over training which can in turn be a very bad thing because you get burned out and working out then turns to be a chore rather than something you do for enjoyment. I was also able to sign a customer up tonight as well which is always nice from a buisiness perspective.

Today was another one of those uneventful days. there was a little bit of filing to be done, but not enough to really make a dent in the time clock. so the rest of the night was pretty much spent doing little odds and ends things like cleaning, spotting, and chatting with members. Most of the time the spotting just turned into more of the chatting, which in some cases may be a bad thing because it take away from the intensity of the workout. so normally i try and keep that chatter to a minimun just in case they want to get something done.
